Parent Newsletter 8/26/19

The El Paso Leadership Academy star continues to shine bright as we move into another week of the 2019-2020 school year.  Week two was the starting point for student engagement in the club of their choice–Monday-Leadership Congreso, Tuesday-Philosophy Club,  Wednesday-Movie Club, Thursday-Athletics Club, and Friday-Robotics. Students may still join if they choose to do so during Week 3.

Week 2 also saw the beginning of the new PowerHour design for the year–a design focused on “Blended Learning” strategies integrated with the new software program “Istation”.  Learning stations are being established in the PowerHour classrooms this school year in order to allow for more individualized instruction and growth. Leadership and Character development activities were also initiated on Friday.

The end of Week 2 saw three CRSHH Leadership Award winners being recognized for their outstanding demonstration of the campus’ CRSHH values–Collaboration, Responsibility, Smart, Humble, and Hungry.  The recipients are: 6th grade–Dylan Antunez, 7th grade–Victoria Mendoza, and 8th grade–Juan Baez. Congratulations to the award winners!!!

Week 3 and Week 4 will include opportunities for families/community members to meet and interact with the EPLA teachers and staff.  Please make plans to join us for these events. Week 4 will also include our Beginning-of-the-Year MAPS testing. On September 3, 4, 5, 2019, our scholars will take the MAPS Reading, Math, and Language assessments beginning at 8:20 a.m.  It is, therefore, very important your son/daughter arrives on time on each of those days. Breakfast-in-the-Classroom will be provided from 8:05 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. each day.
